The prompt for this assignment was to animate to music and rhythm, giving the student creative freedom in how we animate the piece. Here is the one sheet I made that shows the process of inspiration with a mood board, story board and my goals with the piece.
The video is a 2 minutes long and was made with Procreate Dreams to create the frames, and Adobe After Effects to composite the clips together and add adjustments.
I was going for a chalky sketch-like look, with realistic style and movement.
I used an mirror and myself as reference to capture what faces would like like if an actual camera panned over in a specific angle.
Below are the start and end frames for a head tilting up animation. I used in camera movement to make this appear more three dimensional.

These are the separate eye frames places on top of the head frames, the eyes would be easier to tilt up digitally in After Effects, but the head is more complex and has characteristics like the nose and mouth that change shape when the head moves up, so it was easier to animate them separately.
The head in this case, completely by hand.

As a part of the prompt we had to include motion tracking. I keyed out the subject in a separately shot video and motion tracked a digitally drawn face onto the fan that was moved.
